I was in college before I started having a skin-contact reaction to the shampoo I’d been using for years. Even fast-appearing ones often won’t show up until the second encounter. If you have good medical coverage, it’s worth getting tested.

Dang, why my readers so smart?
I read up on this a bit and took a pill after a meal as suggested, no flushing or anything. I’m also reducing the dosage a bit.
It’s good to know that I didn’t suddenly develop an allergy.

Yes, Niacin can cause flushing like that–it feels a lot like a sunburn, but it fades after 30 minutes to an hour. Unfortunately, the “no-flush” kinds seem to have poor bioavailability so they don’t do you much good. The time of day you take it, and whether you’ve eaten anything can affect whether or not it causes flushing, as can the dosage. If it happens again, look for patterns like that.

Nothing to fear. Either enjoy the ride or change formats.

I guess that’s possible, the dosage on that stuff is quite high.
What was strange though: The whole ‘feeling like I’m burning’ thing started a few minutes after I took a pill, but it only lasted for about 30 minutes and then everything was back to normal.

Anyway, I’ve ordered a different kind, maybe it will work better.

It takes time for your system to use or flush out vitamins and other compounds. If you take a higher dose than your system can keep up with it’ll build up. If it gets high enough it’ll cause a reaction. That’s probably why you were able to take so many before anything happened. I was like that with a multi-vitamin I was taking. When I went to my doctor he put me on a different kind with a lesser dose and I haven’t had any problems since. Also you could have taken the vitamin and then ate foods that had a high concentration of that same vitamin in it and over loaded your system. If it was helping your hands I’d go have your doctor do some tests and see if you can get it to the right dose do you can keep taking it.
